Flashes of Hope is a national organization which arranges photo sessions in hospitals for children and their families battling cancer. Photographers donate their services by setting up a photo studio on site and photographing any child and/or family member willing and present that day. A makeup stylist also donates time. Some kids are not well enough to leave their room so we go to them.
A photo package is assembled and presented to the families with selected framed prints.
Briefly entering into the lives of these young people is a privilege. Often they are fighting through pain as they sit for the camera. They inspire with their sustained optimism, equanimity and forbearance in the face of their mortal challenge.
